Guardian Wealth Management Internship

To help support up and coming financial advisors, Guardian Wealth Management is now offering professional internships. We are pleased to report that we have just had our first successful internship completed by Peter Gollogly from Glasgow. We were really impressed by Peter’s professionalism and dedication, and he certainly made the most of his time working with Guardian Wealth Management in Qatar.

Currently studying a degree in Law and Marketing, Peter’s experience of working with Guardian Wealth Management has given him a real drive and a new found ambition, where he hopes to find himself back in the employ of GWM once he completes his honours degree next year.

Financial Advice Internships in Qatar

Peter had already made the decision to focus on building a career in the financial industry, prior to his experience with us in Qatar. Colin Estlick, one of the senior consultants in Guardian Wealth Management’s Qatar office, started liaising with Strathclyde University six months before Peter’s internship commenced to arrange for him to come and join our professional wealth management advisors and learn the ropes. Although GWM has offices in a variety of locations across the Middle East and Europe, Qatar was always the obvious choice for Peter’s time with us. With a selection of family members resident in Doha, Peter already had some basic knowledge of the challenges that he would be presented with working in such an unfamiliar culture, so far away from home. Peter rose to these challenges in a way that belies his young age of just 20 years.

Peter’s introduction to the life of a financial advisor was not a gradual one; in fact almost as soon as his internship started he was requested to start a complicated, structured assessment program to give him a good insight and overview into some of the most important elements required to provide a good service.

This program, undertaken for the duration of his five weeks with GWM, included elements such as:

  • Knowing your clients
  • Benefits of financial planning
  • Anti-money laundering processes
  • Financial marketing
  • Compliance procedures and processing
  • Managing your clients effectively

David Russell, the SEO of Qatari office, found Peter to be highly worthy of his internship certificate, commenting that: “Everyone in the office was very impressed at how well Peter coped with each task presented to him”.

Peter has earned a great reference from Russell for completing his internship so successfully, and we hope to be able to welcome him into our employment when he completes his degree.
