Andy Gray and Richard Keys are the talk of the town
Thursday evening saw a fantastic turnout at the On The Green corporate pavilion of Doha Golf Club for an evening with BeIn Sports presenters Andy Gray and Richard Keys. The charity event, with all profits going to the Qatar Cancer Society, was hosted by Guardian Wealth Management, in association with Grand Hyatt, W Hotel, The Torch, Renaissance Marriott, Intercontinental, Oryx Rotana and Four Seasons.
It began with Richard Keys talking about his long and illustrious career as one of the UK’s top sports presenters, before he invited former international footballer Andy Gray up to join him on stage, where the pair entertained the crowd of over 400, by recanting humorous stories about their time both on and off the pitch. Among those in the crowd was British ambassador to Qatar Nicholas Hopton and wife Alexandra. Afterwards, Keys and Gray were happy to mingle and pose for pictures with delighted fans.
Will Myers, Head of Sports Marketing at GWM, played master of ceremonies, presenting the whole event with wit and enthusiasm. The evening was rounded off with a highly popular auction of sports memorabilia, flown in from the UK, and a raffle of donated prizes from the supporting hotels. The biggest draw on the night was a signed and framed Jack Nicklaus scorecard, with successful bidder being Guardian Wealth’s own CEO, David Russell.
Speaking on Thursday, David said, “We really have seen an incredible turnout. We received some good press coverage late last week and people have been talking about it in the town. There were well over 400 people in the room, it was a super atmosphere, people didn’t seem to mind the squeeze. I want to offer a big thank you to Andy and Richard for being such gracious hosts and to Chris Myers, GM of Doha Golf Club, for being so generous to us with the venue for the charity event.”
